Mike Wins 2000
National Retriever Championship
with FC Maxx's Surprise

Prize delivered Mike his
sixth national championship, a record setting victory, by winning the
2000 National Retriever Championship on Saturday, November 18th in
Ardmore, Oklahoma. Prize is the son of 2xNAFC-FC 2xCNAFC
Ebonstar Lean Mac and FC-AFC-CNFC-CNAFC Chena River No Surprise.
Mike had held the previous
record of five national wins, including:

Candlewoods Tanks a
Lot (Lottie) in 1990, 1991, and 1993
-
Candlewoods Super
Tanker (Tank) in 1992, and
-
Storm's Riptide Star
(Rascal) in 1996.
Three other finalists were
trained and handled by Mike: FC-AFC Coldwater Cork, FC-AFC Candlewoods
Ramblin Man, and FC-AFC Redline Wilderness Hannah to Go. Mike
also trained finalist FC-AFC Chickamauga Choo Choo, owned by Lynne and
Mac DuBose, and handled by Lynne. These five dogs accounted for
one-third of the finalists from a field of 87 starters.
